“I am constantly amazed by the real impact that LightHouse has in DC. In a single day, volunteers are able to meaningfully improve the lives of members of the DC community. Volunteers have the opportunity to learn more about their neighbors and colleagues while leaving a truly positive impact on the city.”

A Story about Kevin
Our Neighbor
Meet Kevin. Kevin and his mom, Ms. Curtis, a veteran who served in the army, were suddenly homeless when Kevin's grandmother passed away and they were evicted from their apartment.
|
Kevin and Ms. Curtis were homeless until the Veterans Administration (VA) and nonprofit So Others Might Eat (SOME) helped her secure an apartment. Unfortunately, Kevin and his mom did not have basic furniture or home goods and lacked the resources to obtain these on their own.
That's when LightHouse stepped in. |
A New Start
LightHouse, partnering with Foundry United Methodist Church through the Welcome Home day of service program, furnished and decorated Kevin and Ms. Curtis' new home.
