Our Response to COVID-19 Pandemic
At LightHouse DC, we have maintained our commitment to our staff by continuing full pay. We have also pivoted our mission temporarily to meet the immediate needs of the community, as we all continue to do our part in combating COVID-19. To that end, we are focusing on 3 key efforts:
1. Support and Outreach to LightHouse families. In nearly three years of service, we have helped 434 individuals create a stable home. We are contacting all our current and past clients; we are offering support and delivering both personal protective equipment (PPE) and food, as needed.
2. Delivery of PPE through a partnership with the Department of Human Services (DHS).
Using our supply chain expertise, we will be aiding in the delivery of vital PPE to DHS funded facilities, including shelters and hotels, where the most vulnerable populations are located.
3. Continued triage of special requests from our 46 community partners to meet the immediate and ongoing needs of clients.
Through weekly check-ins with our 46 partner organizations, including Miriam's Kitchen, So Others Might Eat, and AppleTree PCS, we are keeping a running list of the immediate needs of the community, and re-grouping weekly to best address the requests. You can access our running list here.
After being forced to cancel our major fundraiser of the year in April, we have started a COVID-19 Relief Fund to support these efforts.
If you would like to help and are in a position to do so, please make a donation to LightHouse DC here. If you are interested in volunteering to help with deliveries, please contact us here.
Thank you in advance for your kindness during these unprecedented times. It is only through a community that stands together that we can support those most vulnerable among us.
