Our Programs |
Home Furnishing ProgramWe move and furnish homes for individuals or families transitioning from homelessness in our community. These neighbors are referred to us by our 50+ certified nonprofit and government housing provider partners, including Pathways to Housing, American Red Cross, and DC Department of Human Services.
|
COVID Relief ProgramIn June 2020, we launched our COVID Relief Program to meet the immediate needs of the community, as we all continue to do our part in combating COVID-19. To that end, we are focusing on three key efforts:
1. Support and Outreach to LightHouse families. 2. Delivery of PPE through a partnership with the Department of Human Services (DHS). 3. Continued triage of special requests from our 50+ community partners to meet the immediate and ongoing needs of clients. |
Welcome Home Day of Service
Our Neighbor
Meet Kevin. Kevin and his mom Ms. Curtis, a veteran who served in the army, were suddenly homeless when Kevin's grandmother passed away and they were evicted from the apartment.
|
Kevin and Ms. Curtis were homeless until the Veterans Administration (VA) and nonprofit So Others Might Eat (SOME) helped her secure an apartment. Unfortunately, they missed basic furniture and home goods, without resources of moving and furnishing.
That's when LightHouse stepped in. |
A New Start
LightHouse, partnering with Foundry UMC through the Welcome Home day of service program, furnished and decorated Kevin and Ms. Curtis' new home.
